We’re huge fans of Tokyo’s masters of minimalism, Nendo and their latest work – part of a solo exhibition at the Galleria Jannone as part of next week’s Salone del Mobile – follows their theme of stripped-down aesthetic. One of 4 new pieces comprising their “textured transparencies” collection; the black version appears wood-like until a closer inspection reveals transparency, whilst a white version inverts that illusion. Nendo’s transparent tables echo the refined and elegant minimalistic approach of previous works such as their Pyggy Bank and breathtaking Thin Black Lines show from last year’s London Design Festival.
Subverting traditional concepts with the grace of simplicity and effortless style, you can rely on Japan’s finest to bring an air of clam to Milan’s epic 6 day scrum of champagne, photographers, private viewings and frantic bloggers…
