Inspired by the vividly brash interpretations of the area by Aussie artist Howard Arkley and artist cum famed pink wig wearer Barry Humphries, local firm H2o Architects have ramped up the gaudiness with a decidedly spectacular new community library and learning centre for Melbourne suburb Avondale Heights.
Also referencing its high volume of Middle Eastern users with bright cladding and choice of materials, the library – which sits in a prominent position within the suburb – is as audacious as we can remember; full of confident swagger and braggadocio in an already eclectic neighbourhood…
