We must confess to having let this one slip through the net when it won a New Designers Designersblock Award for “Outstanding Creativity and Original Thought” back in July, so apologies if you’ve seen it before, but we couldn’t let Patrick Stevenson-Keating‘s undisputed genius go by without an honourable We Heart mention. The Quantum Parallelograph is the work of a very clever designer and, by that, we do mean clever… Really clever. Not many, if any, designers we feature base their work on the research of Oxford University professors, and we’re pretty sure none have work that examines the “scientific and philosophical ideas surrounding the theory of quantum physics and multiple universes”.
Using online sources to find details about your alternative lives, The Quantum Parallelograph rather brilliantly puts hypothetical theory into the real world; opening up deep-thinking science to a whole new audience, with brief – often ambiguous – reports of your activities across the ‘multiverse’. Unravelling difficult theoretical concepts through impeccably stylish product design, Stevenson-Keating has created something very special indeed.
