Those moving into Clapham High Street’s The Library Building – a new residential development designed by Studio Egret West, and currently under construction – may find themselves taking pickaxes to their newly plastered walls in a bid to find original works by 2 high profile artists. FadetoGloss‘ James Carey and satirical artist Paul Davis have been commissioned by the developers to throw up artworks around the construction site, only for them to find themselves postmodernly hidden by the forthcoming interior build.
It’s a fun, contemporary concept and it offers a little bit of history and substance to what is essentially just another, albeit interestingly design, new-build development. If you do decide to smash up your swanky new apartment, you’ll find some witty, irreverent humour from Davis, and some abstract graffiti from Carey. If you’re sane of mind, then here’s what is probably your last chance to see these inspirational works…
