Our first night in Stockholm was spent at the decidedly swanky, art-packed Lydmar Hotel; and, besides from being bloody marvellous on almost every level, it was the perfect place to drop head-first into design week. We had a date that night at HEL YES!, which was just steps away on beautiful Skeppsholmen, and the picturesque island was also playing host to Form Us With Friends and a collaboration between Wästberg and French designer Inga Sempé. But, we needn’t have even stepped out into the Arctic conditions outside; for the hotel itself was a dot on the official design week map – the public areas brimming with design objects for Meet My Project‘s Treat Me Like an Object exhibition.
Showcasing works from 8 Swedish-based artists, Treat Me Like an Object featured designs we were already familiar with – Chen Karlsson’s Favorite Things and Katrin Greiling’s Bidoun Sofa for example – whilst also introducing us to the likes of Mars Hwasung Yoo’s wickedly tongue-in-cheek Cap Lamp and beautiful illustrated wallpapers from Tina Backman.
