Conceived whilst commuting by bicycle through Paris’ Champ de Mars; Oklahom-born, Paris-based artist/designer/photographer Taylor Holland‘s Eurobus series examines the bright, bold, brilliant and brutish world of European touring bus graphic design. There’s echoes of Miami Vice retro-cool, 80s computer game graphics, and hints of trend-du-jour Seapunk – yet the designers remain anonymous. Is there a secret stock library of outlandishly garish livery vectors? A solitary craftsman working from a top-secret studio with a penchant for Hawaiian shirts and Tequila Sunrise? Who knows, and will we ever know?
Taylor Holland is a man who wants to know, maybe more than most. But in the meantime, his sublime study of this furtive pursuit is available for all; in the form of a new book from Montréal-based Publisher, Matmos Press.
