Travellers to Portugal wanting a taste of boutique hotel at B&B prices are in for a treat when visiting Lisbon’s Casa das Janelas com Vista, located in the hip Biarro Alto district.
As the name suggests, the building – a former basketry workshop – benefits from some cracking views of the city, but the owners have gone to the ends of the earth to ensure inside is equally pleasing on the eye. In fact, the arty objets and quirky pieces of furniture dotted throughout the communal rooms and accommodation have been gathered from extensive travelling by the Catalan owners.
The guest rooms have all been individually designed, with a theme of cool wood and crisp whites offering a perfect respite from the heat of the southern capital. Indeed, when temperatures soar, it’s a great place to sit and let your eye wander from shelf to table enjoying the eclectic bits and bobs that catch the eye at every glance.
