Whenever I see the word Soprano, I have to resist running for the Sopranos box-set, or it’s another three days before anyone sees me. And speaking of boxes, there’s plenty on show in this pizzeria/bar in Gavà, Barcelona. These days it seems if you throw a stone in any major city you’ll hit a shipping container repurposed for dining (take this, this, or this, for example), but architect Pedro Scatarella has taken his theme further and incorporated more building blocks of dock life in the interior of Los Soprano.
Piles of crates, both functional and otherwise, have been carefully left abandoned, freight advertising lines the walls, and it all serves to harbour an interesting dining experience. And not a warbling diva, or squawking seagull, to be heard.
All these shipping containers have got me thinking it’s been a while since I’ve watched The Wire. See you in three days…
