Tron-inspired animation cements cycling track's position as most-exciting venue...

We’ve steered away from too much Olympics gubbins here on We Heart; a) because it’s everywhere already, you probably need a break; and b) because we’ve had our very own, equally successful, Team GB – in the shape of our Create GB project. However, we simply wouldn’t be doing our job properly if we didn’t deliver to you this little nugget of wonder.

If you haven’t already been staggered by our gold-medal-action on the track, if you weren’t already wowed by Hopkins Architects‘ stunningly beautiful Velodrome (its space-aged form fused with the retroness of delightful wooden cladding), and, if you didn’t already have a heavy heart at having missed taking in all the thrilling cycling action in person: how about this, as the cherry on the icing on the…?

Commissioned by the folk at Crystal – one of the world’s biggest CG studios – pretend brothers Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons (aka The Chemical Brothers) created a thunderous three minutes of techno-pop to accompany the aforementioned studio’s stupendous Tron-inspired animation. Played before each session at the Velodrome, surely this confirms the cycling track as London 2012’s most utterly brilliant venue? Well, that was until they let the BMX kids loose; but that’s another story, for another day…
