* Distrito Cantina is permanently closed.
No, someone hasn’t driven their truck into someone’s bar – it’s meant to be there. “Bringing the outdoors in” is how designers crème describe the latest addition to their portfolio, Distrito Cantina at Atlantic City’s Revel Resort.
The bar, set against a painted shingle wall, is a colourful piece of work, from the multi-coloured seating to the cornea-frazzling neon sign. The place has a relaxed feel thanks to the corrugated metal roof which shelters the barflys. Next to the bar is Guapos taco truck, and the vehicle does it’s bit for the ambience with a fantastic honeycomb design made from 50,000 bottletops. Just don’t try to drive it home after one too many cervezas. Hidden behind the truck is the main dining area, where astroturf and wooden picnic tables continue the outdoorsy experience, and the ceiling has been painted to mimic the night sky.
And just a few weeks after unveiling their latest incarnation of Distrito over in Scottsdale… these boys are on fire.
