Calling all adventurous food freaks. The cosmopolitan stew of London’s restaurant scene has just gotten richer thanks to the Peruvian flavours of Lima.
We’re not talking pots of unidentified meat here, but something conceptually as high as the mountains from which the inspiration for these dishes hail. Respected Peruvian chef Virgilio Martinez, along with his partners the Gonzalez brothers, is serving up some incredibly sophisticated creations in the equally sophisticated surroundings – courtesy of design studio March and White – of this new W1 restaurant.
While there are traditional elements to the menu, the contemporary dishes, such as the excellent braised lamb shoulder with a coriander and pisco jus, are what lift Lima to Andean heights. If you like to experiment you’ll be in your element here, try the sea bream ceviche with white tiger’s milk (no real tigers were involved in making this dish, before anyone decides to storm down there and throw red paint around).
