This is another of those occasions where you wish you had carried on with your Swedish lessons as a child, or at least travelled more extensively in the country’s northern mining region of Bergslagen. We shall do our best to explain what is going on here, but we’re not promising.
There have been people visiting Loka Brunn for hundreds of years to drink the spring water and benefit from its rumoured health-giving properties. A new installation/space at the Loka Brunn spa hotel, by designers Note Design Studio, has tapped the historic significance of the setting and created a focal point for Sweden’s largest mineral water company Loka, and the source of their water. Clear? Not as clear as the water probably, but to be honest, it doesn’t matter.
The natural scenery surrounding the installation has been echoed inside, from the colour palette of green, blue and yellow to the tactile materials of shale and woven fabric. Add to that a serene soundtrack and you have the Lokasalongen. Refreshing.
