We love a good chair, so this new work by Dutch artist and designer Sander Wassink really made us sit down and take notice. State of Transience looks at themes of reclamation, reconstruction and traditional ideas of form and function as a new piece of furniture is created from the discarded, broken or partially-formed materials.
Captured in incremental stages, viewers see how the chair is formed and reformed, shifting and evolving in contrast to the precise techniques of modern construction. State of Transience, like his subject matter, is an ongoing project, so we’ll be checking back to see what new and interesting (if rather uncomfortable-looking) forms take shape in the future.
