A quick disclaimer before we start. We Heart does not condone the killing of animals for the purposes of room decoration, so here’s hoping much of what you see here is byproduct or faux. Having said that, the various skulls and skins do add a certain something to Kazbegi Rooms hotel in Georgia, whether they are real or not.
Not the first place that springs to mind when you think luxury mountain resort, Georgia deserves a closer look thanks to the spectacular Caucasus range, and the Kazbegi Rooms hotel in Stepantsminda – the first in the new ‘Rooms Hotel’ chain – deserves close inspection too.
Combining a cabin feel with plush luxury, Kazbegi strikes a fine balance. As you’d expect from a mountainside spot, there’s loads of wood everywhere, warmed up by sympathetic lighting. There are some big old rooms, but these spaces don’t come across as cold or hollow, with some nice functional partitioning, cosier corners and of course the remains of Bambi draped here and there – perfect to wrap up in while gazing out at the peaks that you really must get around to climbing.
