Domaine des Andéols

Sit back and admire decidedly lavish art hotel...

We love it when art collectors open their places up to the public, and we don’t even care whether it’s a philanthropic gesture or just a way to pay for the stuff they keep buying. Whatever the motive, Joe Public now has the opportunity to holiday among the collection of Olivier Massart and his wife Patricia at Domaine des Andéols in the Luberon, France – the second dose of arty French accommodation we’ve dished up today, we really are spoiling you.

The couple’s place has been 20 years in the making, starting with the conversion of 10 stone farm buildings on a hilly 59 acres, incorporating furniture from the likes of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Florence Knoll. You certainly won’t be short of arty things to look at while you stay here, and definitely won’t be short of a chair to sit in while you do – has there ever been a more interesting or plentiful gathering of arse hammocks in one place? We can’t remember seeing one. A year in Provence? You might just need one…
