Marrying French pastoral with Melbourne industrial aesthetics, Fifty Acres in the city’s Richmond suburb has been devoted to providing an oasis of calm among the bustle of shoppers and match-day footy fans. We’ll take a punt that the actual area of this coffee bar and café is a touch under that boasted by the name, but what space there is has been tastefully fitted out by Sue Palmer from Liquid Creativity and interior designers Georgia Nowak and Dhiren Das from Tone and Co.
An unobtrusive palette of pastel shades from the French half of the pairing provides the canvas onto which other countryside elements, such as the attractive tiling behind the bar, sit comfortably. Linking the farmhouse with the factory is the exposed brick of the walls, and coming in from the other direction completely are the metal light fittings, gun grey seat upholstery and brushed aluminium sheeting.
