It might just be the long-awaited death of winter here in the UK that’s making us all optimistic and cheerful, but we’re seeing colour everywhere we look at the moment – interiors seem brighter, palettes livelier. This shop in Melbourne is no trick of mood or lighting though, it’s just downright in-your-face colourful, and we’re not complaining.
The Woodsfolk, in the Hawthorns suburb, is the place to go if your home is short of a knick or needs a couple more knacks; there’s homeware waving at you on every surface, bursting out of every corner, even oozing out of the sofa like the E4 bumper, coming at you from every angle save for the whitewashed brick wall bearing a hand-painted the company’s coat-of-arms logo designed by US duo Stitch Design Co. This Aladdin’s cave of fun stuff is the baby of Amber Clohesy, pictured here, who wanted a bricks and mortar retail space to complement her Down to the Woods internet wholesale business. It’s nearly winter in Oz, but you wouldn’t know it in this sunny corner of Victoria.
