You’ve heard of products flying off the shelves when they become popular, but how about things falling from the ceiling. Well don’t worry, there’s no need to bring a helmet to Origo coffee shop in Bucharest, Romania – everything is tightly secured in this imaginative space.
If you’re thinking the venue is not as “barista bar” as you’d expect, it’s because Lama Arhitectura has designed it to double as a cocktail bar at night, and it’s a clever blend of café motifs and urban evening hangout. The Lama team hit the jackpot when it discovered the old wooden beams beneath the existing plaster, and decided to paint and use them as the basis of the clever hanging cups arrangement above the counter. Upturned cups and saucers have been suspended above the tables as well, a nice ornamental slant on what is otherwise a rough and unprocessed interior full of chunky wood and unpolished metal.
