Clear your weekend for Brick Lane art extravaganza...

Since you are reading us, we can safely assume you like art with a heavy dosage of ‘pop’, and if we’re right, there’s only one place to be this weekend – the Old Truman Brewery on London’s Brick Lane. The Moniker Art Fair is on until Sunday (20 October), and the guest list of exhibiting artists include some of the top names in contemporary pop art, with a bias towards urban and subversive material.

It’s the fourth year for Moniker, and the first at the Brewery. Expect a full-on throng, as the event is venue sharing with The Other Art Fair which also has one or two things happening – the two providing East London’s with a genuine Frieze alternative. Moniker is offering 16 galleries of international art, with the headline grabbers being new D*Face works and a rare Shepard Fairey mural, but there’s plenty more besides. The fair’s popular artist project spaces are back, and figures such as Beejoir are making the most of the expressive licence, creating an Apocalypse Now bunker in which to display his vision. Jealous Screen Printing can help sort out any troublesome bare patches on your walls with their live screen printing, and when it all gets too much and a little air is needed, Alternative London are doing street art walking tours in the area. Get amongst it.
