Ever been to Frankfurt? If you’ve flown in Europe, chances are you have, as its airport is one of the busiest in the world, but it’s time to take your bags off the carousel and check this city out. Frankfurt’s cup runneth over with things to see and do – so much so that you might need an extended stay – and as for longer term accommodation, take a tip from us and consider The Lindenberg, a cross between a “guest community” and a hotel.
Set up to be more like a home from home, Lindenberg is situated in a grand old building knocking on for 150 years old, and offers studio living for those who are in no hurry to leave. The 10 one and two-bedroomed suites, immaculately decked out with reconditioned vintage furnishings, come with their own little kitchen and bathroom. But since this is community living, you’ll be wanting to be sociable in one of the equally excellent communal rooms. In the Seven Swans restaurant, chef Kimberley will share her kitchen and ingredients with anyone who wants to roll up their sleeves and pitch in. The bar doubles as a cinema complete with popcorn machine; films are usually available on request through the concierge. There’s also a gym and a fireplace lounge. Nightly rates range from €99 but you can stay for a month for around €1000, so it makes sense to clear your calendar and settle in.
