Italian furniture fanatic Fragile has a new showroom in Milan, and despite the name, we crashed through the doors like a bull in a china shop to cop an eyeful of the snazzy store. Studiopepe deserves an ovation or two for the balls out theatricality of the interior, while Fragile’s excellent collection of 20th Century furniture also puts in a bravura performance worthy of a rose-strewn curtain call.
The showroom on Via San Damiano 2 measures an impressive 200m², which means there’s plenty of space for all the Fragile classics with enough room left over for a couple of volleyball courts, should the need arise. To be fair though, it would be a crime hide that magnificent tiled floor under too much stock, and the generous spacing does allow jumping up and down and the waving of arms, which, curiously, is what we want to do in here. Most out of character. At least there are plenty of places to sit down and gather our composure.
