Minor celebrities take note: this is how you take a mucky picture with a cameraphone. Ray Potes gives the genre a much-needed artistic overhaul in his cleverly staged and beautifully lit shot for Hindsight, a group exhibition and publication from V1 Gallery, Copenhagen.
The gallery sent out a mailshot in December last year to a long list of visual artists, asking for a couple of images to include in Hindsight, which was being curated in conjunction with the weird and wonderful Asger Carlsen exhibition Hester. The subject matter was left open, with a brief that the images should reflect the artists’ current work, and a long list duly replied. Among the names to feature are graffiti artist Barry McGee and Brit photographer Matthew Stone. The Hindsight publication is available free of charge, which is always nice, and the exhibition is running now at the gallery’s project space The Depot, ending on 15 February.
