If you are secretly intoxicated by typography, prepare to get gloriously drunk at the Playtype Concept Store. It’s a new addition to hit the streets of Copenhagen – a supplement to the city’s e-Type font design studio and the Playtype online font foundry that makes up the core business – and the bricks-and-mortar shop is packed with some of the nicest letter-based products we’ve ever seen. Or read.
The store is a place for the font designers of e-Type to show off some of their most imaginative work, and at the same time introduce the somewhat esoteric joys of typography to a wider readership. Ranging from pure design to creative wordplay, functional items to the strictly decorative, you’ll find all sorts of curios, homewares and fashion items based on letters. And should you decide that Copenhagen is a bit of a trek just to indulge your typography habit, there is an online version of the store out there too.
P.S. Web editors and designers who take in refugees from the ruined empire of print media might like to check out the excellent Playtype typography glossary, which will allow easier inter-species communication with the unfortunate wretches.
