Nothing is safe from the sketching pen of emerging artist Eric McHenry...

Are you a work desk doodler? Do you sketch your thoughts while gazing out of the window mulling over a problem? Does every phone call inspire a new squiggly splodge on your spiral notepad, or in the case of calls from the finance department, a classic cock-and-balls? Well under normal circumstances these absent-minded bits of nonsense should be filed in the bin, but if they are actually very good, like the sketches of Eric McHenry, it might be something worth pursuing.

Tales from the 9-5 shift comprise The Terrible Tusk Show at Slow Culture in Los Angeles, and mark the first solo gallery exhibition for the emerging artist. McHenry got into art, and especially the counter-culture style he has adopted, after taking up skateboarding in 1998. It’s not just notepads that are misappropriated by McHenry though, and all manner of found objects from letters to photographs have come in for the treatment as he uses every opportunity to practice his skills. Catch a star on the rise until 11 July at the Highland Park venue.
