Tom Gibson, the man behind Dalston’s famous Ruby’s, has sprinkled a bit of his magic over on Broadway Market with The Cat & Mutton. The Hackney area has been well-known for its taverns since the 1600s, and this place takes it’s name from the historic bridge nearby over Regent’s Canal.
The impressive oak bar and design touches such as enamelled mirrors give a traditional old pub feel downstairs, while the venue is brought right up to date by the addition of Pearl’s cocktail bar on the first floor. Licky Chops provide the food, which goes far beyond the standard pub grub in offering dishes including fresh or smoked oysters and rhubarb sorbet with Prosecco.
