Multi-disciplinary creative agency HORT is 20 years old this year, and the Berlin-based group is having a party at KK Outlet to celebrate. Instead of trawling their archives for a retrospective, HORT has put together a new collection that was created specially to mark the event. Because is was a special occasion, founder Eike König took some of his team on tour and set up a residency at Rome’s Villa Massimo; the 20Y HORT exhibition is the result of their time there.
Eike realised early on in the studio’s career that his skills were limited, and resolved to gather together people who could do what he could not. His collaborators have such a diverse range of talents that the agency takes on pretty much anything and everything, with jobs such as designing a new set of Gamertags for the Xbox One, creating an illustration for The New York Times or designing a hotel interior for Volkswagen. The contributors to the 20Y HORT project were Mick Burman, Nathan Cowen, Serafine Frey, Jacob Klein, Tim Rehm, Tim Schmitt, Tim Sürken and Sera Yong, and you can enjoy their work at the London gallery until 27 September.
