Never in one place for too long, foodie fanatics Shuttlecock Inc have settled on Marylebone as their base of operations for the next five years, opening the doors on shared events space Carousel. The three-storey venue isn’t limited to food however – a rolling programme of events will include design, performance and music as well as the culinary happenings that have made Shuttlecock‘s name.
At street level we find Carousel’s showpiece area, which will host the foodie events. It’s been designed by Rise Design Studio as a rustic restaurant space centred around an open kitchen and bar, and seating for between 40 and 50. Down in the basement is a flexible events space with a pro lighting rig for dramatic performances, and (of course) a kitchen. The top level benefits from loads of natural light and blank wall space and is intended for daytime exhibitions and screenings. Pop-up events already announced include Frenchie Paris in October, and Shuttlecock’s own foodie-fight Rumble events in November. There’s also a series of cooking nights with Tommy Forster for two weeks only starting 9 October – check with Carousel for more details on this and all the other goings-on.
