It’s not often we wish we could spend more time on aeroplanes, no matter how great the service or how many complementary gin and tonics we get through. That’s about to change with the announcement that Airbnb are partnering with KLM to turn a passenger jet into the kind of weird and wonderful bespoke accommodation that the portal is famous for.
Airbnb has offered some offbeat places to stay in the past, but none have been quite as extraordinary as KLM’s redesigned MD-11 plane, which has been transformed into a truly unique loft space after some superb work by Amsterdam design studio Tank. As part of Airbnb’s ‘Night at…’ campaign, KLM is offering to host a select group of lucky winners free of charge on the distinctive three-engined plane following its end-of-service makeover. But you’ve got to be in it to win it, and the stay – at Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport – is only available to those who enter the competition on the Airbnb website. You’ll need to come up with a winning reason why you deserve to board the revamped plane, and three lucky winners will each bag themselves a night’s stay for 2 to 4 people. The prize nights are 28 to 30 November, so there’s not much time – head to the Airbnb competition page and get yourselves entered!
