Hoxton may not be as edgy as it once was, but that may not be such a bad thing if a more mature crowd means the emergence of grown-up restaurants such as 8 Hoxton Square.
Don’t come here if craft beer and gourmet fast food is your kind of night, but fans of refined Modern European cuisine in refined surrounds are in for a treat; stuffed and fried courgette flowers and a selection of delicious seafood dishes have impressed the critics, along with the agreeable prices. There’s a small terrace out front, and a compact dining room inside dominated by a classy leather banquette facing the kitchen action.
