If standard ice cream is a bit too vanilla for you, add a bit of scientific theatre to the recipe at Chin Chin Labs in Camden Lock — Europe’s first ever liquid nitrogen ice-cream parlour.
The place is part kitchen, part mad scientist’s lair thanks to a seemingly scattergun arrangement of units, held in place by exposed steampunk pipes and brackets, pieces of lab glassware, and of course the laboratorists themselves. The short but inventive menu is made to order using the super-cold gas, which yields a superior, crystal-free product – with billowing clouds of mystery and wonder thrown in for good measure.
