There is just no stopping compulsive doodlebug Hattie Stewart from defacing everything in her path, and the artist is back with her debut solo show that proves nothing is safe from her acerbically witty pens and paints. Fashion mag covers are a special source of interest for Stewart; and their celebrity cover stars continue to be a target for her humorous re-imaginings. In the past, whenever I’ve asked myself “would I like to see more of Kim Kardashian’s arse” the answer has always been an unequivocal “NO”, but given a going over by Stewart it becomes a much more entertaining prospect, explosively expelling astonished love hearts and ice-cream turds in a torrent of cartoonish creativity.
The ongoing magazine series forms part of the KK Outlet show, entitled Doll House, which also includes leather jacket decals and a doll’s house made over in the signature Hattie Stewart style. The dates are 6 to 28 February.
