We don’t normally spend too much time in the hotel bar on foreign excursions, but in the case of Zoom Hotel in Brussels we’re quite happy to make an exception. Our advice is to check in, drop off your bags and eschew the standard sightseeing malarkey in favour of a stint sampling the dangerously inviting selection of Belgium’s best beer that could easily fill a whole weekend (you can try samples rather than whole bottles if you need to keep your faculties sharp).
Once you’ve got a good buzz going, Zoom Hotel Brussels is in a good spot to explore some of the city; it’s located in the Avenue Louise shopping district, and is only a short walk away from the chic Sablon neighbourhood of the Belgian capital. The hotel is designed around a photographic theme, and throughout the modestly-sized boutique venue (there’s 37 rooms available) you’ll see all sorts of camera- and image-related features such as an interactive photo wall, images by local artists in every room, and a changing programme of photographic exhibitions. Snappy.
