Get over to Hoxton Square’s KK Outlet before 28 March and you are in for all sorts of oddball delights from Danish-Swiss duo PUTPUT. These delights include such memorable works as Tribute to the Salami, and it’s a cold and sober sort of person who can resist a smile at this kind of charming silliness. One could describe the work of the Copenhagen-based pairing — aka Ulrik Martin Larsen and Stefan Friedli — as what happens when photography, sculpture and design meet up and get the giggles, and the gallery is chuffed to be hosting a selection of PUTPUT’s past works as well as some brand new material under the telling title Cheating Sameness.
We Heart’s penchant for a good pun is well-established, so it’s possible recent PUTPUT project Everything Has a Sole — a takeover collaboration with Danish footwear brand Bianco — was created with one eye on getting published on these hallowed pages. Mission accomplished chaps. But a favourite at this exhibition, Sex Tape, also gets honourable mention for sublime punnery, while other only slightly more straight-faced series like the function-subverting Pretext and the furniture fiddling of Fitting are also well worth stopping in to see.
