London Fields’ Netil Market has been missing something of late. Buns. BAO Buns to be precise — the signature steamed milk buns with braised pork, peanut powder, fermented greens and coriander; the panko-crumbed daikon radish, daikon pickle, hot sauce and coriander and friend chicken too. Erchen Chang, Shing Tat Chung and Wai Ting Chung’s devilishly good Taipei-inspired buns (sold only on Saturdays between noon and 3pm) were so revered that the trio set up a permanent home for the fluffy white wonders over in Soho.
The dust has settled on BAO Soho, and Netil Market’s BAO Bar will be back with a bang from Saturday 25 July. “We’re very excited to be reopening the BAO Bar, Netil Market is where we started and it will be great to be back there” says Shing, and I’m sure plenty of E8 locals will agree.
