The U.S. National Archives have just made a bunch of photographs of Vice President Cheney in the aftermath of 9/11 available on their Flickr feed. They show Dick kicking back in his office, watching news footage of the attacks on a telly set that’s more 1981 than 2001; having a chinwag with Bush (who’s sporting his semi-smirk throughout) and almost falling asleep.
There’s a strange air of calm amongst the top brass of the superpower, but we’ll leave that sort of speculation to the tin foil hat brigade — suffice to say, that Cheney’s staff photographer clearly wasn’t on the leading line of technological innovation at the turn of the century; going all Terry Richardson, seemingly shooting on a battered old Kodak point-and-shoot. Either that or they’ve been hitting VSCO’s hipster filters. Interesting stuff.
