What you see before you is a collaboration between Tusk — a design/fashion retailer in Chicago’s Logan Square ‘hood — and artist Chad Kouri; who describes himself as ‘semi-nomadic, mostly Chicago-based’. You could be forgiven for seeing sun-blistered highways; peyote; The End; Dodge Chargers; faded Polaroids.
Kouri’s dye-work on organic cotton canvas tunics looks like heat shimmers rising from a dusty horizon, the ceramic necklaces unite Ettore Sottsass’ Memphis design with hippie happenings and Salvation Mountain. A commanding collaboration.
