Sónar have just announced the first names of their 2016 Barcelona lineup. And it’s good. ANOHNI are perhaps the biggest news, although I’ll forgive you for not having heard of them. A new project led by Antony (and the Johnsons) Hegarty, with two of the most forward-thinking producers on the planet; Hudson Mohawke and American Daniel Lopatin, aka Oneohtrix Point Never.
Sónar by Day is set to continue its day-rave sunshine vibes, with living legend Kenny Dope joined by an Ed Banger House Party; The Black Madonna; Congo Natty and plenty more. New Order need no introduction, and will be one of the Barcelona festival’s headline acts — elsewhere there’s John Grant; Kode9; Skepta and Fatboy Slim. It all comes announced by a deranged video featuring cats, a leggy model and a drone carrying a loudspeaker. Is it June yet?
