Harbouring a self-confessed obsession with all things ‘savoir-faire’, Portuguese shoe brand Josefinas have opened their first retail store in New York; it’s what they call the flagship of their dreams, it occupies a leafy corner of the city’s style Nolita neighbourhood, and it is a quiet riot of plushness.
Beginning their journey three years ago, with a dream to inspire women and change the world, the luxury brand worked with designer and architect Christian Lahoude (whose clients include Jimmy Choo, Tiffany & Co., et al) on the Elizabeth Street store, creating a sumptuous space where their handmade shoes, sneakers, boots, and ballet pumps could be showcased in all the resplendent girliness they require.
Lahoude also worked on a quaint terrace that brings the elegance found inside outdoors too, creating a space for customers to interact or relax in quiet surrounds. The focal point, however, is undoubtedly a handmade copper tree; designed by a Portuguese craftsman, it represents the far-reaching dream of the brand, and emphasises the delicacy and graceful taste for which Josefinas have, and will continue to be, known for since their recent arrival on the fashion scene.
