Making bloody good pizzas since 2014 — when the guys behind Made of Dough hit the road with a Land Rover and wood fire oven, rocking up at various street food markets (before settling in a shipping in Brixton) — you can now wrap your smackers around their doughy goods at a debut bricks and mortar property.
Located on Peckham’s Bellenden Road, the menu consists of fan favourites (made using a simple lean dough recipe with a 60 hour fermentation process) and topped with the best produce they can lay their hands on: mozzarella arrives fresh from Campania twice a week; chorizo from a small farm in Andalusia; tomatoes are grown on the foothills of Mt.Vesuvius; and the parmesan is aged for a whopping 30 months at least … keen to work with local artisans, too, the Peckham location will also feature meats from nearby butcher, Flock & Herd.
The space is light and sleek, and features tabled and counter (where diners can watch the Neapolitan-style pizzas being made) seating amid cut-and-paste murals and crisp white tiles. Dive into a menu that runs from the simple Margherita to the decadent Truffle — topped with portobello mushrooms, white alba truffle, fior di latte, thyme and parmesan — washed down with a selection of beers and cocktails. Starting Made of Dough with a mindset to ‘make the best pizza and have a laugh’, these guys have nailed the fun factor and kept the serious stuff emanating from their wood fire oven. Winning.
