ICHIBUNS, Chinatown

Romp through a riot of Americana meets mid-century Japanese subculture at new Chinatown hotspot ICHIBUNS...

Situated within a three-storey building on Wardour Street in the heart of London’s Chinatown, ICHIBUNS is a new Japanese-inspired dining concept founded on the principles of sourcing the very best ingredients to create affordable, delish dishes.

ICHIBUNS China Town London, Wardour Street Restaurant

Created by the guys behind Nobu, Busaba Eathai, and Ping Pong, diners are instantly immersed in an eclectic Tokyo rock-and-roll interior; inspired by both 1950s and ’60s Japanese subcultures and the quintessential American diner. Noriyoshi Muramatsu, of Tokyo-based Studio Glitt, devised a rampant interior that pays homage to the Shōwa era in Japan, with authentic memorabilia found throughout.

The lower ground floor area features a bar filled with Japanese pachenko machines and a menu of robust cocktails, whilst up on entrance level guests will find a concrete counter moulded to represent Japanese granite. Upstairs, the plant-filled first floor includes two Japanese sunken tables views overlooking Chinatown, along with ample space to enjoy some of chef Brendon Fong’s signature dishes: the ICHIBAN burger, made with Wagyu beef; flavourful ramen; and melt-in-your-mouth CocoWhip soft serve. With a takeout option available too, ICHIBUNS has runaway success splattered all over it.
