The streets and cultural venues of Manchester welcome their annual celebration of creativity and design, as DM18 (Design Manchester) presents a host of debate, films, workshops, exhibitions, fairs, and—naturally for this city—parties.
Taking place from 10—21 October, the city-wide festival—curated by John Owens of Instruct Studio and Malcolm Garrett RDI of Images&Co—brings together some of the industry’s greatest minds and influencers, with over 40 events (many for free) taking place in venues such as The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester School of Art, Manchester Art Gallery, and even Manchester Airport.
From a Q&A with the author of Design as an Attitude, Alice Rawsthorn, to End Of Store Street, an exhibition curated by The Warehouse Project’s photographer and designer—and held at PLY in the Northern Quarter—that lauds the iconic club’s ten year history as it bids farewell to its legendary Store Street location, and on to the epic Conference: D(isrupt)M—featuring big hitting speakers like Michael Wolff of Wolff Olins, Morag Myerscough, and Anthony Burrill—all whilst offering a peek into the future of design, work, and living, DM18 is set to inspire thousands of creatives and professionals throughout this year’s edition and beyond.
