And just like that, the 2019 edition of the A’ Design Award and Competition has drawn to a close. The competition—the world’s largest of its kind—recognises the best designers, architects, and design-oriented companies globally; a jury made up of an esteemed panel of members of the press, experienced academics and design industry leaders having the difficult task of narrowing down the thousands of applications the competition receives annually.
With some 2,437 winners from 106 countries in 98 different design disciplines, the judges behind the industry’s most diffused international design award devoted care and attention to details while assessing each entry, the winners of the 2018—2019 edition now held in the same regard as those creatives previously crowned for their collective efforts and addition to the world of innovation and design.
Offering five different levels of distinction—Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Iron—the A’ Design Awards are distributed annually in all design disciplines with laureates invited to attend a glitzy gala-night and award ceremony in Italy where they also collect their trophy, award certificates and yearbooks. Showcased below are some of our favourite winning products including Xuhui Zhang for the hip Junzi Kitchen Bleecker Street Restaurant; the P.R Lounge Chair by Alexandre Caldas, winner of a Gold Award for A’ Furniture, Decorative Items and Homeware Design; Maryam Khaleghi Yazdi’s Graphics and Visual Communication Design Category-winning Trojan Horse Branding; the excellently contorted Cultural Space of No.16 Bangchiao Commercial by Wang Daquan-Tanzospace Design Office; and Iron award winner Erin Adams for The Luminaire Tiny House on Wheels, which “inspired by a desire to live a more sustainable and simplified lifestyle”, enabled the designer to reduce their carbon footprint, source local and recycled materials, improve indoor air quality, and avoid marring the mountain landscape in a more mobile and simplified life.
