Much-loved London restaurant, Morito, has a new addition which is tucked underneath their acclaimed Hackney Road outpost; Downstairs at Morito combining food, music and some fabulous interior design.
The latest project from Sam and Sam Clark supports local talent with ticketed Morito Music nights running every Tuesday and showcasing East London’s musical diversity, whilst also filling the stomachs of guests with the North African, Southern Spain, and East Mediterranean fare that they’re renowned for.
Design practice Studiomania have created a stylish, dimly lit space where royal blue banquet seating centred around a distinctive bar calls for a communal style of dining, and where Morito’s signature blue and orange walls (alongside a warm copper bar top and bright shots of Seville orange details in the custom made bar stools and bannisters) hark to long summer nights on the Mediterranean.
Morito Music nights are curated by local musician Crispin Forster, and each week a new distinctive experience is provided, pairing live music with the drinks, dishes and energy of Morito. Priced at £30 per head, diners can expect a generous menu of sharing plates, great wine and cocktails, all set to the sound of engaging live music.
