More than a million people go camping and glamping every year in the UK. And with the rise of the staycation, we’re all looking for exciting ways to spend time in nature. So, let’s take a look at the top luxury glamping accommodation in the UK.
The UK is known for beautiful and varied scenery, big skies, green valleys and of course the typical British weather. This is why there are 68 different words for rain in the English language. One of the advantages of glamping is that you’re not subjected to soggy nights under canvas if it does rain. Instead you can have a luxurious vacation, but still appreciate spending time under the stars in a beautiful landscape. However, there’s more to luxury glamping than a posh cabin or teepee.
Geodesic Domes
If you want a 360° view of the English countryside, then staying in a geodesic dome immerses you into the scenery from all sides. Geodesic domes use fewer building materials than other traditional structures, yet their shape makes them extremely stable.
In the heart of the Yealm Valley, Devon is Sunridge Retreats, a campsite-with-a-difference offering 10 geodesic domes to stay in. You certainly won’t be cooking on a portable camping stove. These domes are fully equipped with electric ovens, ceramic hobs, a microwave and even a dishwasher for when you’ve finished your meal.
The domes also have Smart 4K TVs, and there is a four-metre cinema screen. And, of course, free WiFi. Outside your dome, you will find a hot tub, so you can relax and watch the sunset whilst enjoying the bubbles.
Cool Treehouses
Treehouses made from natural, sustainable materials are extremely popular, and you can get a wonderful view of the birds and wildlife up in the trees. The Hudnalls Hideout treehouse in the Wye Valley is set in the middle of a beautiful nature reserve.
Completely secluded, it feels like a secret place that has been made just for you. The interior of the cabin has been fitted out in partnership with Made.com, so you can expect luxury furnishings that are insta-ready.
Even in winter, the Hideout is extremely cosy. There’s underfloor heating and a bioethanol fireplace. Hudnalls Hideout is currently booked until January 2023, so you have to book well in advance. But, it is the ultimate romantic treehouse break, and well worth the wait; it’s one of the most interesting of all luxury glamping accommodation in the UK.
Glamping Jet
You can stay in a wigwam, a teepee or a hobbit pod, but for the ultimate in glamping accommodation, how about staying in a private jet? At Apple Camping near Tenby, Wales, you can do just that. Stay for a few nights in The JetStar, a converted business jet with all the mod cons. Your inner-Kardashian will be out before you know it.
The cockpit of the plane is still fully functioning, although don’t try to take off. Instead, you can play flight games on the Xbox in the cockpit. Whilst in The JetStar, enjoy relaxing on the leather sofa and prepare yourself a cocktail in the 1970s style drinks area.
Who says you need to leave the ground to live like a star?
Luxury glamping has taken off in a big way in the UK. There is some amazing accommodation you can choose from and enjoy a vacation with a difference in nature. Just think outside the box. Or, the cabin at least.
