Located at the gateway to Rocky Mountains National Park, Trailborn Rocky Mountains is the brand debut for new hospitality brand Trailborn. Situated in Estes Park, Colorado, the exquisite new hotel is home to 86 design-led guest rooms spread across two properties, a restaurant and bar with indoor and outdoor seating, two swimming pools, a communal fire pit with nightly complimentary s’mores, and so much more besides.
With a combined six acres of walking land to explore, guests — in keeping with the brand’s ethos of nature-forward experiences rich in Americana — can enjoy the great outdoors, as Trailborn’s founders Mike Weiss and Ben Weinberg seek to place visitors at the heart of the country’s most extraordinary outdoor destinations combining thoughtful design with an authentically local experience.
Oft referred to as ‘Colorado’s original playground,’ the mountain town of Estes Park is known for its scenic landscape, free-roaming wildlife, world class hiking and other outdoor recreational pursuits. Inspired by these surroundings, Trailborn’s sizeable campus is posted at the eastern entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park, and offers guests a one-of-a-kind experience in this sought-after outdoor destination.
Electric Bowery designed the guest rooms and public spaces, the Venice Beach-based architecture firm inspired by themes of the Americana of road travel’s golden age. Rooms are design-forward, functional, and fashioned to serve as a respite between outdoor adventures with a lightweight portable cooler, mini fridge, Fellow tea kettle, Huck x Trailborn artisan instant coffee, Tivoli bluetooth radios, Barebones lanterns, and ample space to relax and unwind. Exuding a modern-meets-rustic aesthetic, custom furniture and lighting in natural materials are a nod to American craftsmanship; think wooden beds, sustainable cork flooring, banquette benches, and side tables, as is the neutral colour palette and artwork commissioned as a nod to local surroundings, as well as luxurious textiles inspired by local artisans.
Trailborn Rocky Mountains and sister property Trailborn Rocky Mountains Outpost, located one mile away and accessible by complimentary bikes, share amenities, the former serving as the base and home to the restaurant, a patio with a communal fire pit, and a pool, with the latter home to a second seasonal pool, a porch, and rooms with private balconies; all with breathtaking views of the surrounding Rocky Mountains.
Casa Colina is located just off the lobby lounge in the main building, and will keep guests fed and watered with Mexican-American classics and an elevated tequila and mezcal offering; the first bar and restaurant by the brand informed by the natural landscape on which it is built.
A place for travellers and adventurers, located a short hop from downtown Estes Park and the national park, Trailborn Rocky Mountains is a wholesome slice of midcentury pre-technology nostalgia spliced with modern touches and contemporary hospitality offerings; a true original at the foot of one of the country’s most enigmatic and dramatic wildernesses.
