The team behind Upstate New York‘s Forts Ferry Farm have just opened up their own ‘Farm Shoppe,’ a bijou pantry filled with farm-grown produce and items including antique table attire and fanciful gifts.
Opened in 2015 by chef Emma Hearst, farmer John Barker, and artist James (Jamie) Barker, Forts Ferry Farm is located in Latham, NY, and has grown from offering a handful of vegetable varieties to hundreds of vegetables, fruits and flowers, alongside a selection of fresh baked goods, granola, honey and condiments; the 100-acre farm guided by the trio’s mission to have fun while growing and sharing chef-quality produce with communities throughout New York.
An extension to this offering comes in the form of The Farm Shoppe, which is located in the heart of beautiful Hudson, and is a place to source all from unique and functional gifts to chef-chosen kitchen tools. Designed in collaboration with Emma and designer Michelle Smith of Studio MRS, the store is akin to an extravagant garden foyer, featuring seafoam walls with pops of jade green and embellished with floor to ceiling handmade wood treillage.
Sourced by Emma, diverse offerings include hot sauces and chilli powders made with the farm’s signature pepper crop, farm fresh eggs, 15 varieties of tomatoes, 20 varieties of hot peppers, 20 varieties of greens and 20 varieties of herbs including specialty herbs like Huacatay, Epazote and Mexican Marigold. Add to that farm-made baked goods, over 100 varieties of fresh flowers, dried floral bouquets, and floral wreaths, as well as EU-sourced antiques such as serving platters, vases, glass and ceramic pitchers, Murano glass bowls and tea pots, and a curated selection of napkin rings, candles, hand dyed linens, decorative cake toppers, kitchen tools, books about food and farming, Stone Pocket journals, and more. Quite the array of foodie related goodness.
Situated at 554 Warren St. and open Thursday to Saturday from 11:30 am to 6:30 pm, if food, farming and fanciful finds are your thing, Hudson’s Forts Ferry Farm Shoppe is just the place for you.
