Architectural design studio, Ohio, have collaborated with Buenos Aires‘s Petersen brothers on the renovation of their grilled meat and vegetable restaurant ‘Hermanos;’ basing the redesign around how diners “consume, connect, and experience gastronomy.”
The 400 square metre space in the Argentinian capital features a flexible layout with a central steel bar for a dynamic dining experience. Following a post-pandemic heightened interest in cooking, Studio Ohio opted to install an open kitchen so that diners could enjoy the theatre of their food being prepared, while the bar serves as a focal point and is a place for staff and guests to interact, continuing the theme of communication and accessibility between workers and visitors.
The choice of steel material for the bar and its dimensions provide lightness to the space without compromising the restaurant’s original essence. The flexible dining space features a variety of seating arrangements and tables, and two elongated counters repurposed from existing wooden bars; natural materials such as wood and lush greenery add warmth to the otherwise industrial space.
Serving up great cuts of meat and pairing them with considered sides and vegetables, Hermanos Buenos Aires delivers refined dining and refined interiors to the city’s fans of fine food.
