From its first edition in Barcelona in 2014, Brunch Electronik has grown to a point where more than 300,000 punters danced with them throughout 2023, as the event built upon its core principles of community, equality, and sustainability to host parties as far and wide as Madrid, Paris, Los Angeles and Lima.
Welcoming over 65,000 people over three days in August 2023, the Brunch Electronik Festival returns to Barcelona for a second edition this summer; a joyful culmination that celebrates the core values this party brand has been built on. From its earliest days, the event has fused electronic music with food trucks, family activities and a market for local traders to present their wares to its growing community. Although now on a larger scale, the essence remains, and 9, 10, and 11 August 2024 will see DJs, bands, gastronomy and family entertainment combine with activities including an artisan market, workshops, art installations and much more.
The expansive waterfront site of Parc Del Fòrum, the beautiful Jardins de Joan Brossa, and the city’s iconic Nitsa Club are the three venues that will host an impressive roster of electronic music’s top names. Think Soulwax, Jayda G, Modeselektor, Sasha & John Digweed, Röyksopp, Fatboy Slim, Nightmares on Wax and much more, as more than 80 names, from global icons to emerging and local talent, come together over three days to wow loyal Brunchers and newbies alike.
Building on its core principles, the 2023 edition of Brunch Electronik Festival saw the circularity space B! HUB established, a concept where initiatives that share their ecological vision were presented, working together to promote more sustainable and responsible practices. This year again will see waste minimised as much as possible as part of their goal to reduce their carbon footprint and become a truly zero-waste, circular event.
Community will also be as important as it was on that first day in 2014 and, no matter its size, families will continue to be welcomed with open arms. Outside of the festival itself, the festival’s foundation, Social Fooding, aims to reduce hunger in Barcelona by collecting surplus food from collaborating restaurants and distributing it through volunteers to associations and NGOs throughout the city.
Lastly, the principle of equality will continue to be an integral part of the festival, as the emotional wellbeing of attendees will be promoted through safe spaces, stands dedicated to LGTBIQ+ and feminism, a pioneering prevention point manned by professional psychologists, and staff trained on sexual harassment and aggression as part of the Ajuntament de Barcelona’s ‘NO CALLEM’ programme to address male violence, specifically sexual and LGTBIphobic violence.
Continuing to be much more than simply a riotous coming together of electronic music fanatics (but definitely that, too), Brunch Electronik Festival’s second edition looks to build on their annual celebration of all that Brunch is: great music, big names, and a dedication to freedom, respect, diversity, and inclusivity. Three-day and two-day passes are on sale at the festival’s website, brunchelectronikfestival.com.
