With interiors inspired by the Art Deco of Palm Beach County in Miami, and serving delicious ice cream on a newly pedestrianised street just off Barcelona‘s renowned Passeig de Gràcia, Amiko is not simply a ‘heladería’, rather it’s a sensory experience set to transport customers to a place where tropical colours, surreal shapes, and human warmth converge in an outburst of creativity.
Designed by Valencia-based studio, Masquespacio, every corner of the premises is a work of art. Serpentine curves reminiscent of the era’s iconic buildings combine with straight, modern lines, creating a visual contrast that reflects the evolution of design. Vibrant colours have been reinterpreted with a soft pastel palette that contrasts with darker earthy tones like green, providing a sense of freshness and lightness and nodding to Art Deco design.
The protagonist of the space — the ice cream — inspired Masquespacio to create an environment that reflects its essence: “fun, magical, and full of possibilities.” Organic shapes and sculptures inspired by the frozen deliciousness are integrated into the furniture and design details, creating a playful atmosphere. As well as cones and cups of flavours including avocado with lime; peanut with salted caramel; raspberry with chocolate rock; salted pistachio; Oreo; Madagascar vanilla and more, Amiko’s menu includes coffees, teas and a small selection of baked good such as cookies and sweet desserts.
Intended to stimulate all the senses, appeal to design aficionados, and dish up delish delights all day long, Amiko Gelato is a welcome slice of style in the heart of the city’s most important architectural neighbourhood.
