Located next door to Hotel Wilmina, which is housed in a former Berlin-Charlottenburg women’s prison, Lotta Tagesbar has opened its doors, the café cum deli and bar designed by the same team behind Wilmina and serving an exquisite menu of healthy and house-made snacks and drinks.
Designed by Grüntuch Ernst Architects, the historic building has been thoughtfully redesigned and extended to create a retreat for peace and comfort, the light-flooded, minimalist space a wonderful respite from the bustle of the city with its contemporary design and leafy inner courtyard.
Heidemarie Pucher and her team place great emphasis on the quality and regionality of their offerings, working closely with local roasters and suppliers from the neighbourhood, and for customers who cannot get enough, speciality coffees, homemade drinks and selected products are also available to take home. Providing “everything you need for a perfect break,” the menu includes a ‘variety of soups, dishes of the day and cakes’, think vegan vegetable soups, grilled sourdough bread with pea mash, pickled and fermented vegetable specialities, apple bread with orange cream or fresh waffles with berries and buckwheat crunch.
The drinks menu incorporates hot drinks with Belgian chocolate or homemade chai latte, selected teas and freshly squeezed fruit lemonades. A small, fine wine list as well as light, sparkling cocktails and selected non-alcoholic drinks are available to accompany the evening snacks menu.
At Lotta Tagesbar, start your day right with a good coffee and house-made specialities from regional ingredients, before enjoying an aperitivo and light bite in the afternoon, all in truly idyllic surrounds.
